The Georgian Theatre Royal has been featured in the latest episode of the BBC Sounds series Secret North Yorkshire, which explores some of the region’s most fascinating hidden gems.

In the 9-minute episode, presenter Jack Hadaway-Weller is taken on a guided tour of the Theatre by one of our fabulous volunteer guides, Gerry Broadbent. Along the way, Gerry shares a host of intriguing facts and anecdotes about the Theatre’s rich history and unique features.

As Britain’s oldest working theatre in its original form, the Georgian Theatre Royal is full of stories waiting to be told – from its 18th-century origins to the present day. This short audio journey offers a delightful glimpse behind the scenes of one of North Yorkshire’s most treasured cultural landmarks.
