Victorian Music Hall finds home on Georgian stage!

Victorian Music Hall finds home on Georgian stage!

We step back in time on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 August as Marske Choir presents an evening of Victorian Music Hall. Expect magic, melodrama, mischief and mellifluous music!

Marske Choir with several guest players will host a period music hall variety performance. It will include songs ranging from operatic choruses (Drinking song from La Traviata) to old favourites such as Down at the Old Bull and Bush, and Oom Pah Pah, with staged solo performances such as Daddy Wouldn’t Buy Me a Bow Wow and Don’t Dilly Dally on the Way

The Chairman, keeping order with the gavel, is local personality and mountain rescue expert, Pete Roe.

Marske’s own Stephen Longstaff, who has appeared as pantomime dame on the professional stage in Darlington in addition to many local performances in shows such as the annual Dalton Pantomime, will be making some surprise guest appearances.

Lindsay Ibbotson, Choir Director, said “It has been a longstanding ambition to stage a ‘Good Old Days’ Music Hall-style event at The Georgian Theatre Royal.  We feel the atmosphere at the beautiful historic theatre is just perfect for this style of show."

So, stick a feather in your hair, pull on the corset, dig out the coat and tails and join us for a veritable 'pot pourri' of performers assembled for your entertainment and delight.
