The Georgian Theatre Royal’s own professional theatre company

Who are we?
Named after the Theatre’s founder and first manager, Samuel Butler (who built the Theatre in 1788), The Butler Company is a brand new professional theatre company for young actors between 16 and 25 years old. Offering exciting and innovative productions, it is open to anyone in this age group but will be of particular interest to those looking to further their acting careers.
The Company has been founded with the generous support of The Friends of The Georgian Theatre Royal.
How is the company run?
Using the considerable skills of the Theatre’s in-house creative team that already produces the highly successful annual pantomime and Youth Theatre Fringe shows, the company will operate on an entirely professional basis. Profits from each of the shows will be shared between the performers and the Theatre, and actors will accrue credits through the national Mandy casting network.
